At LKT it is important to us to be more conscious and to build a sustainable business. We believe in the talent and work of traditional craftspeople. We believe in using natural and sustainable products. Our unique pieces are handmade and no two pieces are the same, whether they have been up-cycled or are straight from the loom. We believe In supporting the traditional arts and crafts, giving back to a culture, supporting local communities and celebrating art. In keeping with the sustainability of the products it is therefore important to us to ensure that our packaging is eco-friendly.

• In the middle of the Atlas Mountains of Morocco communities of Berber weavers hand weave the soft woollen rugs, one knot at a time on a traditional loom. No machines are used in the process; from the shepherds caring for the sheep to the cleaning and dying of the yarns to weaving the beautiful rugs

• Many coloured yarns are died naturally with spices and vegetables

• All our packaging is consciously considered and is either compostable or biodegradable and can be reused

• Our ‘Enviro cardboard boxes’ offer the protection of traditional double wall boxes but use less material, a 30% saving in CO2 emissions. The boxes are FCS certified and 100% recyclable

• For smaller products we use our eco-friendly alternative to plastic mailing envelopes; our recyclable brown paper mailing bags, made in the UK from double-ply 70gsm kraft paper

• Acrylic kraft paper tape used for packaging is 100% recyclable

• Any string used to pack the product is made sustainably either from 100% recyclable cotton or Hemp that is recyclable and biodegradable (or reusable)

• Any paper we use is sustainably sourced and 100% recyclable

• Our off-white tissue paper is chlorine and acid free so it will not harm your delicate products

• Postcards are made from recycled paper

• Our labels are 100% recyclable and made from polypropylene (PP). Polypropylene is one of the most neutral plastics, containing only two elements: carbon (C) and hydrogen (H). PP is a safer, environmentally friendly alternative to PVC

• The liner and adhesive used in our stickers and labels are all eco-friendly. Although our vinyl ‘Surf’ stickers are made with PVC, the majority of the construction is eco-friendly including inks free of Nickel (Ni) and Fluorine compounds (PFOS and PFOA)

• Each Surf sticker is made of thick, durable vinyl with a UV laminate that protects it from sunlight and scratching so it won’t fade

• LKT is committed to being a Climate Positive Business; offsetting our carbon footprint by working with Ecologi who fund tree planting projects around the world
